The Impact of Injuries on the Mental Health of Athletes

The thesis deals with the issue of athletes returning to training and match process after injury, with focus on their mental health. The goal is to indentify negative psychological states that subsequently affect the performance of athletes, and their frequency in athletes returning to the training and match process after injury. A sub-goal is to find out the following possible variables involved in increasing/moderating these conditions. The work verifies the frequency of occurence of negative psychological states; investigates the influence of repeated injuries, differences between woman and man athletes, differences in individual and team athletes, and also verifies the frequency of use of coping strategies an their specific form. The work is devided into a theoretical and a research part. The theoretical part was prepared on the basis of Czech and foreign language professional literature. In the research part,we use the psychological questionnaire CSAI-2 to determine the occurrence of anxiety and its influence on the performance of individuals in sportsman, who have suffered injuries. We expected that the injury would increase the athletes's anxiety at the time of returning to the training and match process. Analysis of critical situation in basketball

Title: Analysis of critical situations in basketball Objectives: The aim of this work was to identify the most critical situations operating on one particular player and to record feelings and behavior (typical reactions) associated with these critical situations. Subsequently to analyse these situations and propose measures to improve the management of these situations. Methods: For each stage of this work were used other methods of research. Interview, and study of literature to compile a list of possible critical situations and then collecting the data from the investigated player by questionnaire. Results: It was managed to identify the most critical situations that affect the psyche of observed player during the competitive matches and analyse these situations. Title: COMEBACK AFTER INJURY ASSOCIATED WITH MOTIVATION ISSUES OF ELITE TENNIS PLAYERS The goal of thesis: The aim of this study was to describe comeback to competition after injury associated with motivation issues of elite tennis players. To meet the objective there were some scientific questions created. Scientific questions: In total there were three scientific questions created. For the concrete answers there was an anonymous questionnaire, which help us to get answers on our goal. These scientific questions follow: How did players feel, react and what they were interested in during convalescence? How did players doubt themselves during comeback period? How did players come up to psychological conditions during comeback? Methods: In the thesis, method of questioning was applied. There was an anonymous questionnaire composed of 18 questions created. The sample was 48 players older than 15 years, ranked up to 200th place of national ranking in the Czech Republic. The questionnaire was created largely based on a personal experience gained by the author and also based on professional expertise. - english Abstract The aim of this bachelor thesis is to highlight the importance of mental concentration of floorball players during training and before a match and to highlight the importance of concentration during sports preparation. In the theoretical part of the thesis, based on the available literature sources, the thesis first discusses the topic of the sport and describes floorball in general - e.g. its history, rules, or important players. It focuses in detail on the mental concentration of players, which is related to concentration, fatigue and depression, for example, and explains what influences all of them, why they are important in sport, and which factors can affect it negatively. The practical part is based on a questionnaire survey among selected respondents. The results of the survey will be used to evaluate the influence of the players' mental concentration on their performance. Objectives: The main goals of this paper is to assess whether mental states can affect the performance of the player during a tennis match. Method: The basic method will be used method of direct observation of players in the game situations with tennis match statistics. Results: Based on the analysis of the match was prepared curve of performance, which made it possible to compare the course of performance for both players. Title: The Influence of actual psychical states on performance in rhythmic gymnastics Objectives: The aim of the study work is to describe the interdependence of actual psychical states and performance in rhythmic gymnastics. Collected data should bring an overview of the positive and negative influences of psyche to gymnast's competitions performance. Methods: The chosen research is qualitative, because the research sample is small. The research is implemented mainly by structured observation, which is accompanied by a simple questionnaire. During the competitions the research observed previously selected categories of actual psychical states, which were evaluated on a range of five degree. Then the performance was evaluated. Results: The results shown the link between all psychical states and performance and they confirmed, that the psyche is an important factor during every competition. The high anxiety was the key factor, which negatively affected the performance. Also the activity of gymnasts in competition and looking forward to the competition influenced the quality of their routines. Title: Actual mental states affecting performance in tennis Objectives: The main goal of this work is to detect mental states of Petra Kvitova, playing against Caroline Wozniacki and find out whether they affect her performance. Moreover I aim for presenting new programme Break2win and finally I intend to make the topic of sport psychology more available for others. Methods: I have been working with a completely new programme called Break2win which has helped me with detecting mental states of Petra Kvitová. The programme is divided into three parts - protocol, statistics and comparison of the players. I have used all of them to describe and analyse the match. Results: I have been successful in finding many situations which could affect mental state of Petra Kvitová. These situations happened repeatedly, therefore I have been able to identify them and summarize the whole match as far as psyche is concerned. Keywords: tennis, mental states, performance
